Vestry Meeting Minutes for October
St. James’ Episcopal Church

(Preliminary -- to be approved at November meeting
Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 4:30 pm

Present: Senior Warden Bob Omundson, Treasurer Kevin Crosson, Kay Wayman, the Rev. Edie Bird, and Clerk Susan Walter.

Old Business:
1. Stewardship Update and call for helpers on Sunday, October 21 - Pledge cards were sent to those that can’t be at church on Sunday. To date, 8 people have returned those cards and pledged a total of $25,760. Forty people so far have made reservations for the Sunday Celebration Luncheon. We need help serving, cleaning up and setting up. Those Vestry members present offered their help.

2. New Sunday Service Update – There were about 45 people and many animals in the garden for the evening Blessing of the Animals on October 7.  Last Sunday’s evening attendance was 18.  So far, older kids have not attended.

3. Christian Ed Update – These classes in music, Godly Play and ECC are well attended and going great.

4. Ministry Support Team transition update: Susan Vanselow has accepted the call to be the new Pastoral Care Coordinator and Jane Acord accepted as a new EV coordinator.

5. Revised Outreach Application – Don made small changes to the Outreach Application presented last month and it is ready to be used.  He suggested running an article in the newsletter, letting people know these applications are available.  Copies of the applications are available in the church office and on the bulletin board in the Undercroft.
 New Business
1. Approval of pedal pipes for the organ - this approval to spend $1800 for pedal pipes was made by email and now that the statement has come, the bill will be paid.

2. Changes to counting the offering: Due to the small number of Vestry members present, Kevin asked that this discussion be tabled until next month.

3. Request from Trinity Church in Little Rock for money for needlepoint kneelers for Pierce Chapel. They would like each church in Arkansas to donate $350 for a kneeler in the Chapel.  No action was taken.

4. Woodpecker holes – There are quite a few holes on the back of the church made by woodpeckers: Kevin will get quotes from two companies that inspect for termites/bugs to see what the extent of the problem may be.
Next meeting date and time: Wednesday, November 14th, at 4:30 pm.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 pm.
